Oh no!
I'm a lip balm fiend -- I have so many I have no way of using it all up -- but the EOS lip balms are definitely in my top ten list. They come in sphere-shaped containers that are so cool, even Chuck Bass uses it. (And yes, it's the lip balm Miley Cyrus provocatively uses in her We Can't Stop video.] They have cool flavors too, and I want to try everything eventually. Most importantly though, these lip balms really help in smoothing out and softening up my lips, as well as keeping them hydrated.
My favorite one is Tangerine. It's the medicated variety, because my lips are so bad and can get painfully dry at times. I specifically sought it out and bought it from Digital Traincase when they still had a booth at the Cabana Lounge. [Note: You can buy the lip balms at the Digital Traincase site, or at their shop in the Corinthian Executive Regency building in Ortigas Ave.]
Tangerine soothes and moisturizes lips with an antioxidant-rich medicated formula that includes Vitamin E, zinc, jojoba oil, and shea butter. It also provides antibacterial protection, is petrolatum- and paraben-free, gluten-free, phthalate-free, and is 95% natural. It really works for my difficult lips! Plus, it tastes great. I love anything orange-flavored.
The twist-off cap and sphere design is so cute! It has even become a conversation starter at times - people just get curious about its unconventional packaging. It's fun to have in my bag.
They're absolutely terrific, if not for the one quirk! They melt and come off the spheres. When it happened to my EOS I thought, well, I live in a tropical country. It's hot here, so it makes sense. Then I saw an episode of the Pirillo Vlogs over on YouTube. Diana Pirillo (wife of tech geek Chris Pirillo of LockerGnome and Vloggerfair) had an EOS in one of their vlogs and it fell apart on her too! They live in Seattle, where it's pretty cold most of the time, so I guess it's not just the Philippine heat that's to blame for it. Check out the screencaps below.
I came up with a quick fix by sticking mine in the fridge chiller. It hardened and came back together. However, I keep it in the fridge at all times now. I only take it out when I need to use it, which means I can only use it around the house, but at least it won't go to waste. You can use your fingers to apply it too, or the more sanitary thing to do is to use a lip brush with it. However, you don't get to make use of the cool sphere design that way. It's meant to be applied directly to the lips after all.
I also have another EOS lip balm -- the Summer Fruit flavor -- given to me by my friend Hanna, and it's still thankfully intact. I just take care to store it in the coolest places in the house and when I do use it out, I take it out of my purses immediately when I get back home. It's such a cool product, so I hope this helps out anyone who has the same problem. You are not alone in this beauty dilemma! LOL.
Has this happened to you? Comment and tell me about it!
Where can I get one? xx
