Makeup Madness: Up Close - Wet n Wild Mega Last Lip Color in Coral-ine

I've been using Wet 'n Wild Mega Last Lip Color in Coral-ine for months now (see my October - December 2013 haul), and it has now become one of my favorite lipsticks of all time. I actually chose it only because of its name, which reminds me of one of my favorite Neil Gaiman books, Coraline. Now I'm glad I chose it because it's such a great lipstick.

The Product

This is a semi-long-wearing lipstick. It has a semi-matte finish and a creme formula that should keep your pucker fresh for up to four hours. It's also hydrating, with a cushion-like feel, and won't bleed, cake, or smear.

Well, it certainly is all that and more! I didn't really expect much from it because it's so darn cheap, but it actually works like a charm. It feels so soft on the lips, and goes on really smooth. It's pretty amazing how it kind of fills in the gaps in my lips so that they end up looking absolutely velvety.

I love the color too! I was thinking it would be a little orange, but it's a very deep coral that looks more red than orange. The shade doesn't come off as too intense -- it's simply fun and bright.

The only thing I don't love is the packaging. The lipstick doesn't go into the tube like regular lippies. A part of it sticks out, and it's really easy to ruin the lipstick by just mindlessly putting the cap back on. I have to cap it carefully so I don't accidentally smoosh it.

The Swatch

The color looks almost the same on my lips as on my skin. It's just a little bit darker, taking my lip color into account. I love how lush it looks!

The Mugshot

I wore the lipstick yesterday when I had lunch with my friend Sheva of Beauty by Berrymix. She Vibered me when I got home, saying she noticed how my lipstick stayed put even after we had lunch and asked me what it was.

The pics below were taken when I got home, three hours and a half after I put it on. Considering I ate a full meal, complete with wiping my mouth with a table napkin throughout lunch, I thought it held up pretty well. It lost quite a bit of color from all the wiping, but there was still a lot of color left afterwards.

I noticed that my lips only start feeling dry at around the three-hour mark. I have really dry lips that are always cracking and peeling, and this lipstick is not only able to smoothen it all out, but it also keeps my lips hydrated for a few hours. It also doesn't smear or smudge on me.

My Thoughts

Tube design aside, I'm happy as a clam with this Wet 'n Wild Mega Last lipstick. It has high-end quality at a fraction of the price. It's not MAC-level (that lasts a minimum of eight hours) but it has almost the same rich, smooth formula. I want all the shades I can get my hands on now! This practically lives in my bag these days, and I keep reminding myself to switch it out and give my other lipsticks some love. Coral-line is now my second favorite red next to Mac Chili.

What's your favorite lipstick these days? Have you tried the Wet n Wild Mega Lasts?

    1. Sure! Hehe. Although I have a red velvet Revlon lipstick I don't use often. I think the color's too much in the blue side for me so let's see. :)

  2. I like this color on you! It's super fun and bright. I like Rose-bud and Smokin' Hot Pink - they're the only ones I have pero the staying power is good for the price.
