Beauty Barrage: Manicure Monday - Gunmetal Silver-Gray

Hello! I know it's technically Tuesday because it's past midnight, and I almost missed Manicure Monday haha, but it's still pretty much the same day (more like night heh), and I'm just late in posting. Okay, enough with the excuses and let's get on with it.

This week's color is gunmetal silver. I'm starting to sense fall coming even if this country only has two seasons and autumn isn't one of them. It's probably this chilly, crisp weather we're having (though we're still smack dab in the middle of the sucky rainy season), so I'm feeling dark colors at the moment. I'm not excited for the holidays yet though, and that's a long way away, so no to sparkly stuff for now. Dark and moody is my jam, so I chose Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear nail polish in Gunmetal.

This lacquer is really smooth. It applies so easily, little ole manicure-challenged me only had to redo a couple or so nails as opposed to a lot, which is what usually happens. As its name suggests, it dries rock hard, but it also dries slowly, so the klutz that I am already messed it up while it was drying. I got a scratch on my pinkie finger in no time at all.

I love the color. It's a badass kind of silver-gray, and it's metallic without looking too happy, which was the exact thing I was looking for when I chose the polish earlier.

The only thing that some people may find annoying is that it shows brush lines. I do like that it shows some texture however, and I think that just makes it look more interesting.

When photographed with flash, it shows little flecks of silver. It becomes truly metallic, like silver foil.

Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear falls mid-range in the nail polish price spectrum -- around P200-400. The lacquers in this range are usually the ones I gravitate towards, because they're smooth, easy to apply, and have interesting colors, yet aren't too expensive. I usually have to think twice about high-end polish because I'm not a big polish person in general. This particular bottle gives great results for its price and I really like it.

  1. You know, I don't think I have any Sally Hansen nail polishes. Gotta check out their displays next time.

This is such a badass color. Ganda!

    1. They're not as fun as Orly (lots of textures, etc) but they do have lovely colors.
