In the Lipstick Tag, I mentioned the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Rendezvous a few times. That's because it has taken the place of what used to be my everyday orange lipstick -- Revlon Lip Butter in Tutti Frutti. I use it at least a couple of times a week, and I'm using it even more these days because it's summer, but I never wrote about it here. Finally, here's a proper post on it.
This lipstick comes in a retractable crayon form. It makes application fun, and packs quite a bit of product in the tube. It's supposed to be a moisturizing and softening balm with color that applies as a stain.
The formula's really light and I can hardly feel it on my lips. The balm part of it keeps my lips soft and hydrated, plus it has a minty flavor so it kind of tricks my mind into thinking my lips are feeling cool. These are pretty much the reasons why I consider it my summer lipstick.
Color payoff's great, despite the sheer formula. The crayon-like shape deposits a lot of color that can be built up layer by layer depending on preference. The downside is that it can disappear quite quickly, depending on how much you put on. It isn't as long-wearing as matte lipsticks, but it does stay on longer than the Revlon Lip Butters.
The Swatch
Since it's a stain, it gives lips a sheer wash of color. This makes the bright orange color really wearable, because it doesn't come off as neon, and it doesn't appear heavy on the lips. It's perfect for those who want to try orange, but don't want lips that look too strong. This shade, Rendezvous, is adventurous, because orange is always adventurous, but it's pretty understated compared to other orange lipsticks.
The Mugshot
Orange on orange! This was taken a while back, during one of those weekends at my childhood home. I wore it with an orange top. Who says you can't match your makeup with your clothes? Sometimes nothing I wear matches, and sometimes I go all out and match everything. Rules were made to be broken!
My Thoughts
The Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Rendezvous has become a permanent fixture in my makeup bag. The formula doesn't last as long as I would like it to, but I've gotten used to retouching over the course of the day. I use this lip crayon on casual days when I want to brighten up my look. It's fun and unusual, yet laidback at the same time.
What will your go-to lipstick be this summer?
I owned several shades of these but I gave them all away.
ReplyDeleteQuestion, did the color change? upon application vs the stain it left?
Aw how come?
DeleteNope the color doesn't change on me. It's always sheer orange even when it fades.
You rock the orange lips! I've been neglecting the original balm stains because I've been loving the matte and lacquer balms lately.
ReplyDeleteI haven't found my summer lipstick yet but I'm trying to use my Chanel lipsticks more. Sayang kung maexpire lang!
I've been using my high end lipsticks more as well. I've been saving them for special occasions but those are few and far between and like you said, masasayang kung magexpire! Hehe.
