This blog will tell you that I'm a lipstick girl, and not an eyeshadow kind of girl. A lot of days, I just put base on and then swipe some color onto my lips, and I'm good to go. Eyeshadow for me is for days when I have the time and the energy to make an effort. This is why I haven't really invested much in eye makeup, but I do have some go-to drugstore eyeshadow palettes that I should really get more use out of.
The Product
I have three Wet n Wild ColorIcon Eyeshadow Trio Palettes in my makeup kit, and they're definitely on my must-use-more-before-they-expire list. I like them because they have great color combinations and they make eyeshadow application easy. Each handy palette comes with three eyeshadow shades, marked Eyelid, Crease, and Eyebrow. Like the Wet n Wild site says, it takes the guesswork out of eyeshadow application. It's easy. I already used one of the palettes before -- Walking On Eggshells -- in a look post. [See A Neutral Experiment, and A Neutral Experiment Products.] My most recent Trio acquisition is Sweet As Candy, because I realized I didn't have sweet, pink eyeshadow.
What drew me to it is how girly the color combination is. It's for those times when I want a break from neutrals, but I still don't want strong eyes.
This palette's really small, so it's easy to stick in a purse for easy retouching. It comes with a sponge applicator and a mini brush applicator but I don't use those anymore since they fall apart after a couple of uses anyway.
The Swatch
This palette is a neutral one like Walking On Eggshells, only, it just has a little pink in it. The eyelid color is a delicate, light pink; the crease color is a warm, medium brown; and the brow color is a bright cream. All the shadows have a bit of shimmer in them, which brightens up the eyes.
The Mugshot
I sometimes go all-out pink with this palette, meaning pink eyes and lips, but usually I use it when I'm wearing strong, pink lips to balance things out. (Here I used it with NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in San Paulo, which is a deep pink, but the lighting made it reddish.) I put some of the eyelid color on my bottom lash line too, and it gives my eyes a rosy kind of neutral. I have to apologize for the mugshots though. I did my makeup late in the afternoon and I was almost out of natural light. The pink is barely visible in the pics, but it's there.
My Thoughts
This is a good palette to have for girly days. It's neutral but not too brown. The colors are pigmented, but don't come off as very strong, so it's perfect for daytime wear. Like other Wet n Wild palettes, there's a bit of fallout in the container, but the shadows apply smoothly on the lids, they don't sprinkle fallout on my face, and they stay on the entire day. It's nice
