Going Natural Part 2: Bath and Body

One of my last posts was about my move to natural beauty products. I started off with makeup, and today, I'll be talking about bath and body stuff. Like I mentioned in my last Life Update, I'm currently pregnant, which made me switch to things that don't have too many chemicals in them just to limit what goes into my body at this point in time. Here go the deets!

Avalon Organics Scalp Treatment Tea Tree Shampoo My skin is very dry, which means my scalp is very dry, so this shampoo caught my eye. It's vegan and biodegrable, with no GMOs, no parabens, no pthalates, no harsh sulfates, and it doesn't have any synthetic fragrances or colors. It's meant to help ease scalp discomfort, balance moisture levels, cleanse, and soothe irritation, which is exactly what I need. This has a light herbal fragrance, and it did help get rid of some of the dryness and flakiness in my scalp. My scalp still acts up from time to time, but this helps a lot.

Burt's Bees Extra Energizing Citrus & Ginger Body Wash - This is a sulfate-free body wash that I got from Beauty Bar. This feels really moisturizing, but also easy to rinse off. It has a strong herbal citrus scent that's truly energizing, but my overactive pregnant senses (made worse by hyperemesis gravidarum) kicked in after about a month of using this so I had to switch to a shower gel with a milder scent. I hope I can get back to this once my sense of smell gets back to normal though!

Human Heart Nature Day Moisturizer Human Nature is a local brand that specializes in 100% natural products. I get most of my Human Nature stuff from Beauty Bar. I decided to try their all-natural day moisturizer as an alternative to my Aveeno moisturizer because it's really tough to find here sometimes. I love it. It's very light and it easily absorbs into the skin. It has a slight floral scent and I'm not really a fan of floral scents, but it's barely there so it's pretty bearable. I also like the tube it comes in. It's similar to Aveeno's -- convenient, and doesn't make a mess. The formula has 15 essential vitamins and minerals and it's affordable as well. Good stuff.

Messy Bessy Liquid Hand Soap in Kiwi - This was a gift from a friend, and I keep it in this little emergency pouch in my bag for situations when I would need emergency hand soap. Messy Bessy is another local brand with organic products that I regret ignoring in the past because their products are so neat.

Human Heart Nature Nourishing Facial Wash - This cleanser is so simple, I've grown to love it. It comes in clear liquid form, and it's mild and gentle. The tomato extract in it is supposed to help soothe skin damage, and I do think it does that because whenever I have a breakout, I just use this and the breakout goes away. The only thing I don't like about it is the scent. I can't quite place it -- it's not strong or anything like that, just a tad weird.

Messy Bessy Natural Hand Cream in Kiwi - This came in a cute little package along with the hand soap. I thought I wouldn't like it, but it smells delicious! It's so kiwi! I do have to stay away from it sometimes when my superhero preggo senses act up though. Anyway, the formula is super smooth and is such a joy to lather on. It has become another staple in my bag that I pull out any time my hands feel dry. It comes in a tub though, which is cute, but isn't very sanitary. I like it anyway.

Human Heart Nature Eucalyptus & Bergamot Soothing Balm I found this one during a random grocery trip at Robinson's Supermarket in Summit Ridge, Tagaytay last December. It reminded me of the Badger balms that I love, so I had to get it. Little did I know, it was going to help a lot when I got pregnant. I would put this on my wrists and sniff them whenever I would feel nausea coming on, mostly when I'm on the road going somewhere. Its minty herbal scent is super soothing and relaxing.

Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream - Beauty Bar gave me a bunch of awesome samples when I went shopping there, and this was one of them. I really appreciated this because I have perpetually dry cuticles. This is like lip balm for your digits -- it dissolves into your skin easily and helps smooth it out. The tin is so handy too. I keep it on my desk so I can just massage it onto my nails when I'm on typing or writing breaks.

Burt's Bees Intense Hydration Nourishing Facial Water - I loved this sample! It's meant to boost your skin's hydration, which, you should know by now, is right up my alley. It's kind of a cross between a cleanser and a toner, since you use it in between cleansing and toning, and you put it on with a cotton pad. I see it as something for your skin to soak up when it needs moisture, stat.

Burt's Bees Intense Hydration Treatment Mask - I did a casual spa night at home and used this with the Nourishing Facial Water and it was wonderful. This is 99% natural and made for dry skin, so it's perfect for me. It helps the skin retain moisture and helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. My skin felt so soft afterwards, I loved it. It was very easy to apply too, and felt so refreshing.

Have you tried natural products? What are you favorite ones?
