Our Baby Showers for Little Boy Blue

"Little Boy Blue, come blow your horn. The sheep's in the meadow, the cow's in the corn. But where is the boy who looks after the sheep? He's under a haystack, he's fast asleep." - Old nursery rhyme

Our 33th week was crazy busy because that weekend was filled with baby showers thrown by our family and friends. That Saturday, Aleq's family threw us a baby shower and also celebrated the hubby's birthday. Then the next day on Sunday, my cousin Lek and friend Clang organized a shower with family and friends. We had both events at our place, since I really haven't been able to venture far during my entire pregnancy due to my condition. Thank you everyone for sprinkling our baby with so much love!

Here are some snippets from our baby shower weekend. First up, the family one.

It turned out to be kind of a potluck thing. Everyone brought something, and there was a ton of food -- pork barbecue and lumpiang Shanghai from Amber, pancit Malabon from Bahay Pansitan, homemade grilled liempo, homemade coffee jelly, Selecta ice cream, Red Ribbon cake, and Amber pichi-pichi!

My wonderful mother-in-law also made some mini loot bags. So cute.

Happy A & J after the festivities.

All the gifts for our little one:

Then the next day, it was my family and friends' turn. My college friends were not available in the afternoon so they came over in the morning and we had a scrumptious lunch at Wingstop near our place.

After, we went home and Lek and Clang arrived and set up everything up. Thank you so much. Fairies!

We pretty much just had a pizza party -- nothing fancy.

My sis-in-law Ate Weng brought native Filipino desserts (sapin-sapin, cassava, and the best brown puto) from Marikina too. These were a hit -- they were so good.

Then the games began, led by Games Master Lek.

Game 1: We had to guess what animal babies are called. I won! I'm exempt though, so the chocolate prize went to second place, cousin Em.

Game 2: Yakult-drinking race using baby bottles. cousin-in-law Pete won.

Game 3: The peeps were divided into groups. They had to put together our baby's face using mine and Aleq's photos, and we had to pick which one we liked the best. The results looked insane, heh. Best friend Hazel and sis Ate Weng won this round.

Game 4: It was kind of like charades, but people had to sing songs using animal sounds and their teammates had to guess the titles. This was hilarious. My friend Cielo, neighbor Clang, and cousin Em won this one.

Then Lek and Clang had everyone write wishes for our little boy. Thank you for the sweet messages, peeps!

Happy soon-to-be parents at the end of the day.

And all the gifts:

It was an amazing weekend. Aleq and I feel truly lucky to have such caring family and friends.
